Introducing the Advising Center in SA

Beginning on Tuesday, August 25th, faculty and professional advisors will have access to the new Advising Center in Student Administration. The Advising Center has been used by Orientation Advisors throughout the Summer and will now be available to all Advisors. The Advising Center represents a single location for faculty and advisors to go to view student academic information, and it will be released in two stages:

Stage 1>: August 25th: Fall 09 Advising - During this stage of the release, you will be able to perform the following tasks via the Advising Center:

* Advising Authorization
* Transfer Credit Reports
* General Education Degree Audit Report
* View orientation notes for incoming freshman & incoming transfer students

(At the beginning of September, the ability to enter advising notes for students will be available - additional information regarding this feature will be distributed at a later date.)

Stage 2>: Spring 10 Advance Registration, beginning November 2, 2009- During the second stage of the release, all advising reports will be available via the Advising Center. The following reports will be available directly through the Advising Center:

* Unofficial Transcripts
* Course History
* Student Grades

The reports currently listed under Student Academic Information will remain available there both during the stages of the Advising Center release, and after it is completed. During Stage 1, the Unofficial Transcript, Course History and Student Grades reports can only be viewed via Student Academic Information on myUMBC/Faculty Center.

To access the Advising Center, go to myUMBC, select TOPICS and the Faulty or Staff Center (depending on your role) Click on the Advising Profile & Notes to launch the Advising Center.

Video tutorials and quick reference guides are available via myUMBC.
