Attention MLL Students!

If you have a 3.0 GPA and a basic understanding of
Czech and Slovak, Russian, Ukrainian OR Polish (an understanding of ANY of these languages is acceptable), this position is for you. The American Red Cross is searching for a Translation Coordinator Intern.

Translation Coordinator Internship Position
HOLOCAUST AND WAR VICTIMS TRACING CENTER
INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES AT COLLEGE/GRADUATE LEVEL

Purpose:
It is the philosophy of the Center to involve young people in the work of the Center whenever possible. It is part of our responsibility to help the next generation understand the long-lasting impact of war and civil disturbance. World War II ended over 60 years ago, and yet today the Red Cross is still involved in attempting to relieve the suffering caused by the tragic separation of families, by the horrific fates of millions of innocents. The tracing work of the Red Cross also continues for those separated due to the war in Vietnam, the civil war in Liberia, the terrible conditions of war in Somalia and Sierra Leone, and the recent conflict in Yugoslavia, Kosovo and Bosnia. Youth can certainly understand the consequences of these situations better if they become involved in meeting the needs of the victims. They will grow in maturity if given real opportunities to make a difference in the lives of people caught up in conflict. Hopefully, these future leaders will choose at a later time to influence the world in positive ways, ways that consider wisely beforehand the effects of entering into armed conflict, ways that bring peaceful solutions to problems and do not sacrifice innocent lives.

The Center therefore provides internship opportunities to students who are interested in a meaningful volunteer experience.

Qualifications:
• Major in Modern Language and Linguistics
• GPA minimum of 3.0
• Slavic language experience preferred
• Research and historical experience preferred
