Software Development Team intern to assist with daily technical activities

Job Description

This position provides the UTD development staff valuable assistance with their daily (repeatable) activities. These activities can include performing code-builds, participating in documentation reviews, developing and executing test cases and acceptance criteria used in product stabilization, troubleshooting defects, maintaining automation scripts and test harnesses for builds and stabilization testing, etc.

The qualified individual will have the opportunity to automate manual processes using programming/scripting skills with direction from a current development team member. The intern will participate in the processes, standards, and best practices established as part of the organization's life-cycle development methodology.

Qualifications/Preferred field of study

Minimum Qualifications:

· 1 or more years (at least 2 semesters) of programming
experience with a compiled language. Experience in either
VC++, C, VB or C# in the Windows environment is a plus.

· 1 or more years (at least 2 semesters) working with HTML

· Familiarity with interpreted programming languages.
Experience in VB or Java Script is a plus

· Familiar with XML and the use of schemas (preferably XSD
or XDR)


The following skills are also desirable, but not required:

· Experience with CSS (Cascading Style Sheets)

· Experience with .NET technologies

Seeking an intern to support the Enterprise Projects and Planning department in software release planning activities. This job entails managing the administrative details of requests for enhancements to our software, working cooperatively with business representatives and technology management.

Job Description

This job will require administering the Technology Request process. This entails coordination of technology requests, ensuring that the requests contain the information necessary in order to plan future software releases and providing necessary follow-up. This also involves maintaining data within the Magic Help Desk system and working with the primary stakeholders on technology release planning: business representatives, Technology Project Managers, QC Managers and Business Analysts. Further, it requires follow up with the business requesters regarding the status of their requests including project details. Additionally, data analysis will be required. This involves identifying trends in the requests and providing that data to the software project teams for continuous product improvement.
