Helping the Homeless

Where: Cold Weather Shelter @ Spring Grove Hospital
Times: Flexible

Activities: UMBC students can help in the kitchen with food services, fold donated clothing, create a database (which does not have to be done on-site for those with computer backgrounds or interests), advertising, help with fundraising, etc. Spring Grove Hospital is also willing to tailor individual service projects for the semester that mesh with students' interests.

Requirements: 30 hours a semester, must provide own transportation unless you are going on Sundays.

Background Info: The Shelter deals with a broad population. Mostly men or women with no children. The Shelter provides for people with little formal education to those with PhDs. who have fallen on bad times. This service-learning position has great one-on-one interaction with people with fascinating and moving stories.
