No, not turkey (haven't we all had enough leftovers?), but a "menu" of Service-Learning Opportunities for Spring 2008. Two info sessions have finally been scheduled for the week of Dec. 3rd:
Monday, December 3rd, 12-1 pm in PUP 107
Tuesday, December 4th, 3-4 pm in PUP 107
Learn about a RANGE of service-learning options at The Shriver Center, some long-standing sites (MS Swim) and some new ones (several new Baltimore area schools and the newest, the Baltimore Animal Rescue & Care Shelter, Inc., http://www.baltimoreanimalshelter.org).
By serving at a site 3-5 hours per week (minimum of 30 hors for the semester), you can enroll in a zero credit practicum with the opportunity to take a class regarding this placement for credit.
A continued "menu" of info that will be available at these sessions:
- Several one-time community service opportunities available in the next 2 weeks
- How to join UMBC's Best Buddies chapter, founded in 1989 by Anthony Kennedy Shriver (son of Eunice and Sargent Shriver for whom our Center is named) - http://www.bestbuddies.org
- The new UMBC Serves website - http://www.umbc.edu/umbcserves
Contact Lori Hardesty at lhardesty@umbc.edu for more information. If you can't make these sessions, you can schedule a one-on-one meeting by calling (410) 455-2493.
