Lehman Brothers' Washington Equity Research Internship

Lehman Brothers' Washington Equity Research team is currently offering a unique internship opportunity for students seeking to combine an interest in politics and policy with the chance to learn about Wall Street. Admission to the program is highly competitive; alumni from this program have gone on to top ranking graduate schools for law, business, and public policy, as well as to full time paid positions in government and finance.

This is an UNPAID internship position for June 2 through August 29, 2008. Applicants MUST be able to receive school credit for independent study or field study requirements. This policy is not flexible. All applicants should submit a resume and cover letter detailing interests and availability. Deadline for applications is April 18, 2008.

Depending on the applicant's interests, skill set, and experience, the work may be geared to either quantitative analysis or toward policy and politics. Projects will include research utilizing Lehman and Washington resources (such as meetings with Hill and executive agency staff), attendance at and written evaluation of various DC events, data analysis, and writing research reports. Areas of focus include:

• Federal Drug Association Actions
• Federal and State Level Policy
• Health Care IT
• Hospital Facility Systems
• Legislation and Regulation
• Medicare and Medicaid Services
• Pharmaceutical Events

Work is extremely fast-paced and deadline-driven. The candidate will produce both short and longer written research products across his/her policy areas and will be expected to efficiently present research to members of Lehman’s Washington team. The candidate will gain an understanding of the impact Washington politics and policy have on the short and long term investment strategies of Wall Street investors, and will also have the opportunity to learn the inner workings of Washington and the financial markets from the perspective of a bulge bracket investment bank.
