We’re organized to help companies of all sizes provide their employees with cost-effective health and other benefits programs that fit their business goals while improving their employees’ satisfaction and overall health and welfare.

The first step in your career with Mercer Health & Benefits is as an analyst. Analysts enter either the General track, or the Actuarial track. The Baltimore positions are with the General Track.

In the General track, you work closely with experienced consultants and assist in the design, financing, pricing and administration of health and welfare programs. Mercer is generally is looking for candidates from various backgrounds with strong financial business acumen and communication skills.

Analysts in the General track work closely with experienced consultants to gather data and conduct research for client plans and special projects. Depending on the practice that you are assigned to, the specific job duties will vary, but may include:
collecting, analyzing, and interpreting health care data for our clients
developing awareness of health care plan design, cost factors and the renewal process
analyzing claims, estimating future plan costs and developing pricing models
assisting consultants in financial reviews of renewals, marketing plans, and valuations of cost estimates for client proposals
calculating employee contributions to meet employer cost objectives
assisting in the design, financing, pricing and administration of health and welfare programs
assisting with preparation of client and prospect sale presentations



Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in math, statistics, economics, business, finance or liberal arts
Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0
Superior analytical, mathematical and project management skills
Strong command of MS office, Excel and similar programs
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Highly self-directed, possessing natural leadership qualities
Strong business acumen paired with intellectual curiosity
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work independently or in a team environment with rapidly changing priorities and demands
