Opportunity will allow student to create and implement full software solution as part of a software development team. Student will become acquainted with the Software Development Life Cycle – not just code solutions. Student must have a firm understanding of core computer science concepts such as object-oriented programming.


Expect to learn about intricate details of designing a mobile solution. Student will acquire experience in developing in object-oriented environment using C# dot-Net and will learn about Microsoft dot-Net Compact Framework. Student will learn how to choose the best design pattern for the project.

The purpose of this project is to develop an inventory tracking system which consists of a mobile data collection component, middleware management components, and a master oversight component. Accountability, reliability, and integrity are core requirements of the project which will have to be balanced with the flexibility to allow process variations since solution will be implemented nationwide in several different business entities. Further, the project will require active risk assessments, prototyping of key requirements, business case analysis, requirements gathering, and cost-benefit tradeoffs analysis. The end product of this aggressive project is a system requirement specifications, software design document, and mobile solution used by a highly visible nationwide firm.
