INTERNSHIP DETAILS:
The project requires sound database design and implementation experience in MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server. An ideal candidate will possess:
- An understanding of genomic data from a data management and discovery point of view
- Be able to implement (install) a database to house the genomic data and a browser and other specific tools that will help scientists more easily view genomic information and hypothesize new discoveries.
This task may include some basic programming so a candidate with skills in C++, PERL, Python, VB or similar languages would besufficient. The candidate should also be comfortable in a Unix environment.
Dow AgroSciences is beginning to explore the implications of bioinformatics platforms. Candidates must be proficient in developing and implementing bioinformatics data systems and tools.
