JOB DESCRIPTION:
Legg Mason's Finance department in downtown Baltimore has current openings for 2009 spring and summer interns in their junior or senior year of college. The interns will be exposed to a rotational program in which they will work through various functional groups within the Finance Department, including asset management, tax, corporate disbursements, payroll, and compensation. Responsibilities may include: preparing journal entries, performing budget variance analysis, auditing financial statements, investigating debits and credits posted to certain accounts, reconciling accounts, and other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in ECON, FIEC or EPA and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, be a team player and have the ability to work independently. In addition, the candidate should have proficiency in MS Office and excellent oral and written communication skills. Please note that interns must be able to commute to our downtown Baltimore location. A minimum of 35 hours per week is expected. Relevant classroom or professional experience required. EOE
