One-time Opportunities to Assist Youth in Gaining Employment Readiness Skills

The Choice Program is one of several programs out of The Shriver Center. It was founded in 1989 by Mark Shriver, the son of Eunice Kennedy and Sargent Shriver (for whom The Shriver Center is named). There are several great opportunities available that are one-time opportunities below:

The BRIDGE Project through The Choice Program
Job Club through The Choice Program

The BRIDGE Project through The Choice Program
Calling caring adults! Please consider sharing a few hours of your time to assist Maryland youth in gaining job readiness skills through interactive workshops. All workshop sessions will be held at the Essex Library, 1110 Eastern Boulevard, Essex, MD 21221. Upcoming workshops are held on Tuesdays from 4:30-6:30pm: 10/21, 11/4, 11/18 (4-6pm). Please contact Kelley Cohill kcohill@umbc.edu to sign up for a session.

Job Club through The Choice Program
Assist youth, ages 14-18, through the mentoring and employment readiness Job Club. The Club takes place on Saturdays and Sundays in November and December, from 12-5pm at the various Choice offices: Catonsville, Cherry Hill, Gaithersburg, Glen Burnie, Takoma Park, Patterson Park, Essex, Prince George’s, and Annapolis. Dates and office locations are rotated weekly. Pick your ideal weekend or location, and contact Kate Carver kcarver@umbc.edu ASAP to reserve a spot as a volunteer!

The Shriver Center's Service-Learning Program receives lots of inquiries into one-time service events or activities. Theses upcoming opportunities offer students and groups on campus a great chance to get involved, give back, and make a difference.
