A Thanksgiving Message from the Shriver Center

Are you dreading that Thanksgiving conversation?

You know, the one that goes something like:

Family-member: So, what are you going to do next summer?

You: I don't know, probably the same thing I did last year.

Family Member: Well, with all the news about the economy, I don't think it's smart to put all your eggs in one basket. And you know you can't mooch off of us another year.

You: Stop bugging me! I just don't know where to begin!

And an awkward silence fills the room, ruining your delicious pumpkin pie.

Wouldn't you rather be able to say...

You: Well, I met with my Shriver Center coordinator and they helped me get my resume in good shape. They also showed me how to use UMBCworks to apply to positions. I have two offers already from Fortune 500 companies and I'm interviewing with 3 other organizations over winter break. While I haven't made up my mind yet, I have a lot of good choices. The economy may be down, but there is still a strong market for interns and I know I'm going to have a good experience that may even set me up for a fulltime job after graduation.

Call 410-455-2493 to make an appointment with the Shriver Center TODAY to start your path to a successful spring or summer internship and avoid Thanksgiving awkwardness.
