Position Description:

Synaptic Research is involved in two principle areas of biotechnology R + D. The first area is development of therapeutics for exposure to botulinum neurotoxin and protein engineering of new applications of botulinum neurotoxin. The second area of research involves metabolic engineering of algae for production of high value added products and biofuels. Synaptic Research is a founding member of the Algal BioEnergy Alliance llc, a public/private partnership involving UMBC, JHU, UM College Park and a number of other institutes for the development of algal biofuels.


Position Description:
We are looking for interns who would be involved in cell culture and cell engineering of fluorescent cell lines as well as analysis of the cell lines by Western blot and other techniques. A position for an intern interested in growth of algae cultures and analysis of these algal cultures using fluorescent and molecular techniques is available. An intern who would be responsible for web site development for the Algal BioEnergy Alliance and Synaptic Research molecular engineering in algae is desired.

As an intern at Aurora Analytics you would be involved in efforts for the manufacture of custom glucuronide standards as part of our G-Mark product line and/or development of a diagnostic test kit for spoilage in seafood (Freshdicator).
