Make $18-$20 Per Hour Tutoring Algebra at Baltimore City School

A very recent opportunity came up with a new Transformation School in Baltimore City, Friendship Academy of Science and Technology (FAST), in their first year of implementation. FAST is seeking immediate support for their 9th graders to prepare for the Algebra High School Assessments in May 2009. FAST currently serves 6th, 8th, and 9th graders and is based in East Baltimore.

This support can come in the form of small group work during the school day 8am-3:30pm or in an after-school setting from 3pm(starting a little early)-5pm. Tutors will need to be available for one two-hour session with FAST students and provide their own transportation. Keep in mind that FAST is 30 minutes from UMBC in East Baltimore. Multiple sessions with students are welcome, but a minimum of a 2-hour availability of direct support with FAST students is required (a solid 3-hour commitment when factoring in travel time).

A very substantial payment of $18-$20 per hour will be paid to Tutors for their support, which will be targeted March through the first week of May (with heavy concentration in April).

If you are interested, you should contact Lori Hardesty, Service-Learning Program Coordinator, K-16 Partnerships, immediately at (410) 455-2493 or lhardesty@umbc.edu to schedule a time to hear more about "next steps" and complete necessary paperwork.
