Awesome Paid Actuarial Internship!

Carefirst is seeking an intern for the Actuarial Finance department that reports to the Manager, Actuarial Finance. Expected work hours are up to 37.5 hours per week during the summer and 10 - 20 hours per week during the school year.

Principle accountability include, but are not limited to the following:
Assisting with mainframe programs
Compiling rate charts
Computing Income Adjustment Factors
Compiling components of monitoring reports and state filing including enrollment, market segment data, etc
Assembling competitive analyses from Marketing
Experience data gathering and updating
Model updates
Trend exhibit updates
Organizing directories
Filing of hard copy data and recycling of older material

The intern will be evaluated on the timeliness, accurateness and completeness of each assignment related to the duties above. This internship will provide an opportunity to learn about the health insurance industry and be exposed to the daily routine of a finance department within a large company.

This position is open to full-time undergraduate students who are currently in their junior or senior year and are pursuing a degree in mathematics or finance. Candidates should possess good communication and computer skills and be able to work well under pressure individually and in a team environment. Interest in the healthcare industry along with knowledge of computer spreadsheet and database applications, for example, Microsoft Excel and Access, is preferred.
