2010 Legislative Session Internship for MDOT

The Maryland General Assembly and The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) are considering having an intern, preferably one who is interested in political policy, to assist MDOT during the 2010 legislative session.

The intern will be considered a “legislative assistant” and will need to be available to work out of our Annapolis Office, 7 State Circle, Annapolis (across from the State House) from mid-January through mid- April. The intern will work directly for the State Legislative Officer and the State Legislative Analyst; and assist other MDOT Executives, including the Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Modal Administrators, etc. who quite often share the office during the annual legislative session. The duties would include, but are not limited to, assisting with the preparation of legislative testimony; legislative research; taking notes at legislative hearings; and assisting with the daily administrative needs of the MDOT legislative office.

The hours may vary somewhat – some days will be shorter than others, some longer, depending on the needs of the office, but generally would be about 40 hours per week (approximately 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.).

If interested, apply by emailing your resume to Mike Oettel, moettel@umbc.edu ASAP! Put "2010 Legislative Session Internship" in the subject line.
