Constellation Energy Corporate Audit Internship - Summer 2010

Job Summary:
Performs information technology risk-based and continuous audits under the direction of a more senior member of the audit team.

Reports To:
Manager or Associate – Corporate Audit

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Understands and applies generally accepted auditing standards.
2. Assesses the adequacy of the design of information technology internal controls to mitigate business risk including financial, operational and compliance and tests their operating effectiveness.
3. Executes audit procedures to examine and evaluate the reliability and integrity of financial and operating information.
4. Evaluates systems and processes for compliance with relevant existing or proposed laws, regulations, established polices, plans and procedures.
5. Appraises the adequacy of the corrective action taken to improve deficiencies identified during audits.
6. Obtains and analyzes data as basis for reviewing the adequacy and effectiveness of systems and the efficiency of processes.
7. Develops and maintains knowledge of energy industry and associated risks.
8. Works with supervisor to design and execute a development plan addressing communication, leadership, technical audit skills, business acumen, and industry knowledge.


Job Specifications:
Knowledge:
• Ability to quickly understand internal auditing standards and practices.
• Demonstrated technical competency, knowledge, and professional care commensurate with completion of assignments.

Skills/Abilities:
• Ability to cultivate strong collaborative working relationships and contacts within work group and across other company functions.
• Ability to effectively communicate via oral and written means.
• Ability to obtain, analyze, and evaluate evidentiary data to form an informed, objective opinion on the adequacy and effectiveness of systems and processes being reviewed.

Education/Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or equivalent is preferred. (working toward degree for intern position)
• Candidate for CPA, Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or MBA is desirable.
• 0 to 2 years of auditing, or information system experience.
Other (including physical requirements, working conditions, etc.):
• Travel may be required (generally 20% or less).
