Imperial Sugar Company seeks Chemical and Mechanical Engineering Co-ops

The Imperial Sugar Company, headquartered in Sugarland, TX, is seeking students interested in a Spring co-op at their sugar production facility in Savannah, GA. This full-time, salaried position will give you an amazing chance to get hands-on engineering experience with upper level management in a dynamic environment.

Positions include:

1) Warehouse/Logistics Intern (Mechanical Engineering):
This intern will participate in critical supply chain projects such as:

➢ Warehouse Efficiency Optimization
➢ Logistics Optimization
➢ Lead and/or Participate on Employee Engagement Teams
➢ Continuous Improvement of Key Performance Indicators
➢ Product Packaging Analysis
➢ Development and Implementation of Standard Operating Procedures

2) Manufacturing/Process Intern (Chemical Engineering:
This intern will engage in critical work projects like:
➢ Improving results in cost, efficiency, waste, quality, safety and environmental management for all refinery operations
➢ Apply LEAN, six sigma, 5S, AIB, and TPM methodologies to achieve improved performance
➢ Apply statistical tools to effectively manage and reduce operations variation
➢ Apply automation and information technology to improve decision making and operations management.
➢ Development and Measurement of KPIs – Key Performance Indicators

Preferred candidates for the Intern Program must exhibit:
➢ Sophomore or Junior status in College with a 3.0 or better GPA with preferred concentrations in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
➢ Strong Interpersonal Skills
➢ Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement Skills (i.e. Lean, 6 Sigma)
➢ Willingness to relocate to our Savannah, GA facility

These positions are well paid and housing will be provided for you in Savannah, GA for the duration of your work appointment. Preference will be given for students willing to work both the Spring and Summer semesters.
