Job Shadow Opportunities for multiple majors!

Have you taken a look at some of the job shadow opportunities in UMBCworks yet? If not, now's the time to give them a look. But hurry, the deadline to apply is Friday, November 20th. Here are some of the job shadow opportunities for you to consider:

Teacher/Educator: Supervise the instructional implementation of lesson plans and instructional needs of the class room. Grade record teacher, English teacher grades 6-8, special education case manager.

Biopharmaceutical Product Development: Responsible for managing outside contract manufacturing organizations in manufacturing Alba's drug substance and drug product for clinical and commericial purposes.

Education/Training: Shadow the Chief of the Education Division. Responsibilities include - Establish a graduate-level curriculum for senior security managers;
Develop web-based training products for security professionals; and Develop and present classroom training for security professionals.

IT Management: The IT Manager will generally manage the IT department, including a team of technologists. This individual coordinates end user support, is contact for supporting IT applications, and includes the organizing, planning, designing, testing, interfacing, documenting, training, and implementing IT systems.

Learning & Training Development: Analze, design, develop, and delivers (ADDIE) training programs on various topics such as Element K, Live Meeting, New Associate Orientation and telecommuting. Develops follow-up, evaluation and reinforcement activities for training programs. Conducts post-event evaluations in order to determine how future events could be improved.

Math Teacher/Educator: Opportunity to shadow a high school Math teacher working in Prince George's County Schools.

Business/Health Administration: Serves as Director of Customer Service at Northwest Hospital, responsible for the organizational values of Caring, Respect, and Teamwork.

Information and Library Services: Reference Librarian conducting bibliographic instruction sessions and work one-on-one with library patrons in person, over phone, via email and by chat.

Legal Professions: Senior Law Clerk responsbile for drafting, reviewing, and editing judicial opinions; researching civil and criminal law; reviewing and fact/cite-check appellate briefs; and attending oral arguments as requested.

Mechanical Engineering-Piping Systems Detail Coordinator: Creating a 3d model of a project from process and instrumentation diagrams, equipment cut sheets, general arrangement layout drawings, etc.

Network Engineer: Serves as a Delivery or Field Engineer for a wide variety of Cisco products such as Routers, Switches, and Firewalls.

Organizational Training/Development: Serve as an internal evaluation consultant, providing guidance on all evaluation and data collection processes for training functional areas and divisional representatives; Develop and execute evaluation strategy for measuring effectiveness of training programs, including measurement of Return on Investment; Analyze training needs and evaluate various functional training programs through the conducting of organizational research via focus groups, facilitation of survey development sessions and creation/implementation/analysis of surveys

Business/Entrepreneurship: President of a small, local business that specializes in custom sports team apparel. Oversee daily operations of the company and it's 10-12 employees, some seasonal employees.

Graphic Design/Entrepreneur: Host monitors and designs the day to day operation of the marketing department at Clinical Site Services. He is also the lead designer and front end developer for Nexus Informatics.

A job shadow opportunity is a one-day work experience between you and the UMBC Alum that posted the position. If the alum feels that you are an appropriate match for a job shadow experience, you will be contacted directly sometime soon after December 4th. At that point you can arrange a date and time for you to shadow with the alum in their workplace during winter break.
