MD Dept of Business & Economic Development Just Posted an Exciting Legislative Internship

Exciting volunteer Intern Opportunity to work with the Director of Policy and Government Affairs for the MD Dept. of Business and Economic Development during the Legislative Session in Annapolis.

Duties: The intern will respond to legislative requests for information, attend bill hearings and work with committee staff and lobbyists. The intern will be responsible for conducting research on particular legislative issues that impact the Department and the business community. This will include library research, review of legislative committee files, and preparing notes and policy memos.

The Intern will also be responsible for assisting with the following:
- Administrative operations of the Legislative Liaison Office during the legislative session
- Reviewing and analyzing legislation important to Maryland's economic development efforts.
- Preparation of fiscal estimates, testimony and other materials for legislative committees

Course Background: A graduate or undergraduate level individual with major in Political Science, English, or Economics. The candidate should have completed relevant coursework course background in liberal arts and social sciences. The Intern should possess excellent oral and written communications skills, good organizational skills and should be familiar with computers.

Additional Requirements: The Intern should be able to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision, should have the ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems; and should be able to work well with people as a team member.

Areas: micro and macro economics, statistics, financial accounting or evaluation methods. The Intern should possess excellent oral and written communications skills, good organizational skills and should be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel, and conducting research in a web based environment.

Additional Requirements: The Intern should be able to work well with minimal supervision, should have the ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems; and should be able to work well with people as a team member.
