Become an AmeriCorps VISTA for Parks & People!

Parks and People is recruiting an AmeriCorps VISTA member for the 2010-2011 year. Below is the position description and information about how to apply for this full-time volunteer position.

Community Greening Resource Network (CGRN) Program Coordinator - AmeriCorps*VISTA

Help build strong, urban community gardens by expanding Baltimore City’s community garden resource network. Everyone needs fresh food and safe outdoor spaces – you can make it possible. Become an AmeriCorps*VISTA member with the Parks & People Foundation and Volunteer Maryland! This is a one-year, full-time commitment as a member of AmeriCorps*VISTA. Responsibilities and tasks include resource development and fundraising for the Community Greening Resource Network, and coordination of all program components, which include membership, volunteer recruitment, material distribution days, monthly newsletters, coordinating horticultural and community building workshops, and communicating with partner organizations. Position starts mid-July, provides extensive training, a living allowance, $5,350 education award, and health care. Candidates must possess and demonstrate excellence in the following areas: verbal and written communication, gardening/farming, computer skills, group leadership, and commitment to national and community service.
