For Fall 2010, the following classes are available:
• SOCY 396: Reflections on Community Service- A Sociological Perspective
Explore service at a community site from a sociological perspective
• HONR 390: Reflections on Community Service
Participate in an independent study of learning through service. Honors college students ONLY
• IS 199: Service-Learning for Information Systems
This service-learning experience is for all levels of students providing IS-related support for community organizations.
To receive authorization to register for these classes, students must select a service site ( service charts here ) and meet with a Service-Learning Program Coordinator. Additionally, students placed through the Service-Learning Program are enrolled in the 096 Service-Learning Practicum, which enables them to receive a notation on their transcript which recognizes participation in university-sanctioned community service. A 3-5 hour weekly commitment of time is required for participation in Service-Learning placements.
