UMBC Goddard Earth Sciences and Technology Center (GEST) & Joint Center for Earth Systems Technology (JCET) seeks a Math Modeling Intern ASAP
Climate and Public Health Research Opportunity
A part-time student is needed to assist in climate-based modeling of infectious disease transmission project funded by NASA. The candidate will contribute in the development and analysis of the mathematical model, as well as processing satellite-derived meteorological parameters.
Qualifications:
• Upper-level undergraduate or graduate level in applied mathematics, statistics/biostatistics, bioinformatics, computational biology, chemical engineering, bio-related engineering and other fields that are at the interface between biology and quantitative studies
• Experience in mathematical and/or statistical modeling as applied to biological problems is necessary (can be demonstrated through courses taken or class projects)
• Preferably have taken any of the following courses: differential equations, simulation, statistics/probability, optimization, signal and systems
• Knowledge of MATLAB, SAS, R, GIS are essential but not necessary
US Citizen Work Authorization required, 3.00 GPA or above
