Research Intern Needed to Assess Psychosocial & Physical Functioning in Burn Injured Patients

Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences seeks a Research Assistant

Part-time, 10 to 15 hours per week, parking and lunch vouchers provided

Majors include: Health Administration & Policy, Psychology, Human Services, Public Policy, Social Work, and Sociology

The student Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible for assisting the Research Program Coordinator in implementing the research program established by the Johns Hopkins University Burn Injury Rehabilitation Model System at The Johns Hopkins Burn Center. The Burn Model System project develops and demonstrates a comprehensive, multidisciplinary model system of rehabilitative services for individuals with severe burns, and evaluates the efficacy of that system through the collection and analysis of data on system benefits, costs and outcomes. The RA will have the opportunity to learn about and contribute to the ongoing success of multiple research studies within the Burn Model System (e.g. Burn Model System, Acute Stress Disorder/ PTSD Prevention Study, Nintendo Wii Rehabilitation study, etc.). Primary research activities include: data collection using validated interview measures to assess psychosocial and physical functioning outcomes in burn injured patient population; data entry into a complex multi-site web-based database as well as local Excel and Access databases; data quality assurance projects; assembly of data collection packets, case report binders and standard operating procedure manuals.
