Up for an adventure? Apply for 2011 Student Freedom Ride - "Get on the Bus"

Airing this May on WETA TV 26, the upcoming PBS documentary Freedom Riders celebrates the brave Americans who risked their lives to challenge segregated travel facilities by journeying on buses through the Deep South. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the original Freedom Rides, PBS’ AMERICAN EXPERIENCE and Freedom Riders announce the 2011 Student Freedom Ride.

Apply to be one of forty college students (nationwide) selected to retrace the original 1961 Freedom Ride routes and share the experience through live blogging, Twitter, and Facebook. The trip takes place May 6-16, 2011 from Washington, DC to Jackson, MS

The application deadline for this once-in-a-lifetime, all expenses paid trip is Monday, January 17. Apply today!
