Volunteer with Refugee Youth Project & Make a World of Difference!

The Refugee Youth Project (RYP) is an after school and mentoring program that seeks to improve the lives of Baltimore's youngest refugees by supporting their academic needs and making their acculturation simple and meaningful. RYP students come from 17 different countries, including Liberia, Senegal, Mauritania, Eritrea, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iraq, and Bhutan.

The Shriver Center's Service-Learning program is offering TWO opportunities for students to get involved with RYP this spring:

- Sign up as a Volunteer with RYP on Wednesdays from 2:30pm-6pm. Transportation is provided for students who enroll through the Service-Learning program.

- Apply to become the Service-Learning Intern for RYP this spring! The Intern will be eligible to receive a “Service-Learning Leadership” notation on their transcript. To access the Service-Learning Intern Application for Spring 2011, visit: http://shrivercenter.umbc.edu/service_forms.html. Applications are due Monday, January 31st.

All students interested in volunteering/interning with RYP will be required to attend a training on February 9th at UMBC. Call The Shriver Center at 410.455.2493 to sign up for a spot before the site fills up!
