THE JACQUELINE C. HRABOWSKI & LINKS, INC. SCHOLARSHIP

The Links, Incorporated (http://www.linksinc.org/) founded in 1946, is one of the oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry. The Links members are newsmakers, role models, mentors, activists and volunteers who work toward the realization of making the name “Links” not only a chain of friendship, but also a chain of purposeful service.

The Links, Inc. will award one $3500 scholarship to a deserving UMBC student for the 2011-2012 academic year in recognition of the accomplishments and contributions of Jacqueline C. Hrabowski.

Selection Criteria
The scholarship recipient will be recognized based upon her/his commitment to improving the lives of at-risk urban youth through academic studies and community service activities.
• Candidate should be a full-time, degree-seeking student at UMBC, enrolled in her/his junior or senior year during the 2011-2012 academic year with a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
• The applicant must have provided service to Baltimore City at-risk youth.

To apply, candidates are asked to:
• Provide a resume and an unofficial transcript.
• Submit a 500-word essay explaining actions that she/he has participated in that have contributed to improving the lives of Baltimore City youth.
