Service through Texting, IMing, Skype or Google Talk ...

The English Language Institute’s Conversation Partner Program allows international students to communicate in English with UMBC students and improve their conversational skills. The program gives both UMBC volunteers and ELI students opportunities to learn about other cultures and build friendships. Expand your worldview and your circle of friends!

We are currently seeking conversation partners for several of our deaf students. No sign language skills are needed. Volunteers will meet in-person with students for at least one hour per week to converse by text message, instant messaging, Skype or Google Talk.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact Alisha Scrivens at conv@umbc.edu for more information.
