Summer Nutrition Education Interns Needed in Montgomery County- $9/HR

Timeframe: - June 27th- August 9th 2011
6 hours per day- five days a week
$9.00 per hour

OPEN TO ALL MAJORS, great for Psychology, HAPP, Education, SOWK, and Sociology majors.

Interviews will take place on campus at The Shriver Center.

Responsibilities:
The part-time (30 hr/wk) General Assistant will be hired to work with the EFNEP Summer Youth Nutrition Program in Montgomery County. The General Assistant will implement nutrition lessons, cooking demonstrations and physical activity games to youth (6-13 years) who attend summer enrichment camps at recreation centers, community centers and faith-based organizations.

• Attend and participate in scheduled training sessions (prior to the summer program start date) to learn about the activities that will be implemented and to prepare materials/supplies for the program.
• In a team-teaching module, facilitate nutrition lessons focused on healthy cooking to groups of children 6-13 years of age at various sites for five consecutive weeks. The summer youth nutrition program will begin June 27th and will end August 9th, 2011.
• Collects and analyzes evaluation (pre/post-test) data for each summer camp site and submits the information to the supervisor during the last week of the program.

Qualifications:
• Education: Two years of college preferred.
• Teaching experience working with children 6-13 years of age who come from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Ability to learn and present basic nutrition information and physical activity lessons to youth.
• Skills in performing basic arithmetic calculations.
• Skills to maintain effective working relationships with team members and community leaders.
• Ability to effectively communicate with youth.
• Ability to lift and transport supplies and equipment.
• Must work well in a team environment and have a flexible schedule.
• Must have an automobile, valid driver’s license, and be willing to travel within Montgomery County. A criminal background check must be completed prior to employment.

Salary:
This is a short-term (summer only) contractual position. Hourly wage is $9.00 per hour. Mileage reimbursement is available.
