Nominate a Book for the 2008 New Student Book Experience

Have you recently read a book that you think new students should read? Has a book provoked you to think about the world in a different way? Nominate a Book for the 2008 New Student Book Experience!

Nominations are now being accepted (through October 31) for the book to be used in the Fall 2008 New Student Book Experience. Learn more at http:// www.umbc.edu/undergrad_ed/book/index.html.

Goals of the New Student Book Experience include: welcoming new students into the intellectual life of the university, providing an experience common to all incoming students, providing a connection for each participating student to at least one faculty or staff member, providing students with an active learning opportunity that relates to the academic expectations of the campus, and creating an opportunity for critical thinking and ethical engagement.

Selection criteria and nomination forms can be found at http://www.umbc.edu/undergrad_ed/book/nomform.html or call Janet McGlynn, Director of Communication and Outreach, Office of Undergraduate Education, 5-5754, mcglynn@umbc.edu
