Ideologies of Empires: The British Case and its American Echoes

Webb Lecture
"Ideologies of Empires: The British Case and its American Echoes"

"Is the United States an empire? This question has generated a fierce
debate in recent years, a debate that hinges in part on how an empire

Kayser Professor of History and International Affairs at George
Washington University, will examine the ideologies of empire that shaped
the British imperial experience and consider the extent to which
parallels can be found in contemporary America. Sponsors: The
Department of History and the Dresher Center for the Humanities.

The lecture will be held October 17th at 4:00 p.m. on the Albin O. Kuhn Library , 7th
floor. For more information, contact the Department of History at x52312.
