On February 18, 1943, Hans Scholl and his sister Sophie, members of the student-led resistance movement "The White Rose" were captured as they distributed anti-Nazi flyers at the University of Munich. The students were tried and executed for 'high treason'.
To commemorate the 65th anniversary of this event, the UMBC German Club and MLL's German Area is showing the Oscar nominated German film "Sophie Scholl:The Final Days" (English subtitles) on February 18, 2008, at 8PM. The film is preceded by a lecture by Rebecca Boehling at 7PM (history professor at UMBC and director of the Dresher Center)
