The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is currently accepting applications
from undergraduate and graduate students to join the IRB. Each year we
have one undergraduate and graduate student member. Students are
considered full members of the board. They review research protocols,
attend meetings, and vote on issues. The board typically meets 5 times
during the academic year: October, December, February, April and June.
Meetings are from 10 am-12 pm on Mondays. This is a terrific opportunity
to learn about ethical issues related to research. Being a member of the
IRB looks good on a /cv/ or resume.
Please email Susan Sonnenschein (sonnensc@umbc.edu)
no later than April 25, 2008 if you wish to
apply.
Your email should include a copy of your /cv/ and a few sentences
describing your research interests and experience.
Additional information about the IRB is found at http://www.umbc.edu/irb/.
