UMBC PRESENTS FIRST SWEETHEART SWING HONORING COUPLES WHO MET ON CAMPUS

On Saturday, February 10, UMBC presents its first Sweetheart Swing, held in honor of couples who met at UMBC. The event is open to the entire campus. This unique event, complete with a swing dance exhibition and lessons, will be held from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom. Tickets for the Sweetheart Swing are $25 per person. Victory Rally to Celebrate UMBC Chess Championship

The UMBC community will gather on Wednesday, February 2 at 1 p.m. to honor the Chess Team's fourth national championship in five years. The victory rally will be held in the UMBC University Center Ballroom.

New Media Project Awarded First-Ever e-Lincoln Prize for Civil War Research

The first-ever e-Lincoln Prize for Civil War research went to the Valley of the Shadow project, for its outstanding combination of CD-ROM, text, and online media. UMBC assistant professor of history Anne Rubin managed the Valley project while a graduate student at the University of Virginia, and continues to work on the project as a consultant.

Whiting-Turner Exec Named UMBC Engineer of the Year

UMBC will honor Gino Gemignani, Jr., senior vice president of Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, as Engineer of the Year. The award ceremony will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom on Wednesday, February 21.
