Maryland Charity Campaign is a Record-Breaker

In early November, with just one day left in the 2001 Maryland Charity Campaign, UMBC was $3,000 short of our goal of $55,500. After calls for support from President Freeman Hrabowski and Maryland Charity Campaign Chair Charles Fey, the campus responded – and how! This year's campaign totals are extraordinary – $79,183 contributed by 375 donors. This amount represents 143% of our goal and is 58% greater than last year's total ($50,187). The number of donors is equally impressive, representing 150% of our goal (250 donors) and an 86% increase over last year's number of donors (202).Hrabowski says, “UMBC's response was both generous and kind, and we have shown Baltimore and Maryland that UMBC cares deeply about the larger community. Thank you and congratulations! I want to extend a special thank you to Charles Fey, vice president for student affairs, who chaired this year's Campaign. He provided superb leadership, and please join me in congratulating him.”
