Ian Stucky, 19, is one of fifty recipients of the Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship, created this year to support students from the Washington Region as they pursue advanced degrees. Awardees were chosen from an applicant pool of nearly 700. The new Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship Program has set aside approximately $10 million over the course of the next six years to support this first class of 50 Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholars.

Patricia LaNoue has been named the new director of the Interdisciplinary Studies Program. LaNoue served as the interim director for the past two years and has taught at UMBC for 14 years.
