UMBC Presents 3rd Annual Visionaries in Information Technology Forum
Anthony Valletta, senior vice president and director of Command and Control, Communications and Intelligence (C3I) Systems at SRA International, Inc., will speak at UMBC's Third Annual Visionaries in Information Technology Forum on October 10. Valletta will discuss "Managing the INFOGLUT We Have Created: Who Let the Bits Out?" The event will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the BWI Airport Marriott.
Valletta leads SRA's C3I systems work for clients in the Department of Defense (DoD), the intelligence community and other federal agencies with active intelligence system components. Before joining SRA in 1998, Valletta was acting assistant secretary for C3I at DoD, responsible for information management and intelligence-related activities and as the DoD chief information officer. He served as the deputy assistant secretary of defense for C3I acquisition from 1994 to 1997.
The recipient of numerous military and civilian commendations and awards -- including the Presidential Rank and Office of the Secretary of Defense Distinguished Service awards -- Valletta was inducted into the Government Computer News Information Technology Hall of Fame in 1998. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA).
The Visionaries in Information Technology Forum is an annual, four-part breakfast series created to help elevate the prominence and recognition of Maryland as a critical hub of information and emerging technologies. Each breakfast features remarks from an individual recognized for innovative understanding and application of information and emerging technologies.
The popular series has drawn interest from industry leaders and tech professionals across the region. "This series lets me stay abreast of current issues and future trends in technology, as well as network with technology professionals in the area," says Robert Keesling, Jr., client business manager for AT&T.
