The Cripple of Inishmaan - Photo by Rich RigginsThe Department of Theatre presents presents The Cripple of Inishmaan by Martin McDonagh, directed by Eve Muson, from April 21st through May 2nd in the UMBC Theatre. The production features scenery by Elena Zlotescu, costumes by Ulrich Lindqvist, lighting and sound design by Terry Cobb, vocal direction by Lynn Watson, and music by McDonagh’s March.

Set on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland in 1934, The Cripple of Inishmaan is a strange comic tale in the great tradition of Irish storytelling. As word arrives on Inishmaan that a Hollywood director is coming to the neighboring island of Inishmore to film Man of Aran, the one person who wants to be in the film more than anybody is young Cripple Billy, if only to break away from the bitter tedium of his daily life.
