With approval of the Program Director, BSURE/STEP-UP interns may choice to work with
any NIDDK-funded investigator at any institution in the US or may select from the list of UMBC faculty shown below.

Scientific
skills will be nurtured through a Summer Research Experience with
an approved Faculty Mentor from UMBC or nearby institution.
During the ten-week research experience, participants will
benefit from:
- A full-time 40-hours per week summer research experience with an approved faculty mentor.
- Ethics Instruction and Laboratory Safety Training provided through an online training module.
- Participation in the annual NIDDK Undergraduate Scientific Session and Research Pressentations
in Bethesda, Maryland August 4-8, 2010.
- Students residing at UMBC participate in weekly meetings with Program Director Charles Bieberich, Ph.D.
