Mission:
Support
UMBC student entrepreneurs and UMBC faculty engaged in the start
up or running of high technology businesses by providing affordable
space, business advice, and mentoring.
Benefits
of IdeaLab:
A place to develop/refine your business idea and determine market
feasibility;
A space to work on your business plans;
24 hour access to office resources, equipment, and the Internet;
A place to develop your prototype service or product;
A place to meet with your business team, and advisors; and
Invaluable interaction with Technology Center staff and other
business professionals (such as venture capitalists, accountants,
lawyers, bankers, human resource professionals, and technology
consultants) capable and willing to coach/guide you through the
start-up process of a new business.
Student
minimum criteria:
At least a sophomore at UMBC
Minimum GPA of 2.50
Student/faculty entrepreneurs required to meet monthly with selected
business advisors to report and measure their progress in the
IdeaLab
