This site is designed to assist UMBC departments and outside vendors with shipments and deliveries to the campus. If you have any questions not addressed by this site please do not hesitate to contact a staff member.
Operations: Central Receiving is the primary receiving operation for the university of shipments not being shipped directly to campus departments. Receiving operations include unloading shipments, inspection and verification, material handling, and distribution and delivery. The department also performs receiving and related record keeping using PeopleSoft procedures.
Recycling: Central Receiving is responsible for recycling of office paper through the WOW Program. This program is for white paper only. For more information and to schedule a pickup call extension 52317.
Material Storage: There is very limited space in the Warehouse for storage of catalogs, financial records, and large bulk shipments. Due to the lack of space all storage must be pre-approved and will be considered short term. Arrangements for storage can be made through the Director of Procurement and the Manager of Central Receiving.
Location: The Central Receiving Department is located in the Warehouse B building on Poplar Avenue adjacent to the Facilities Management and parking lot 17 on the UMBC campus "Map". Hours of operation are 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Monday through Friday.
Direct Delivery: In order to prevent excessive traffic in predominantly pedestrian areas of the campus, if a shipment is to be delivered directly to a department by the vendor, the vendor must contact Central Receiving at 410-455-2317 for directions and instructions at least 48 hours prior to delivery. Failure to obtain permission in advance may result in the delivery being refused.
