Each year in October, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Department of Biological Sciences host the UMBC Undergraduate Research Symposium, a NIH-supported research conference devoted entirely to contributions from undergraduates from all over the Mid-Atlantic region. Students present results of their work in chemistry, biology and at the chemistry-biology interface in two half-day poster sessions. All entries are judged in groups of ~5-7 posters with the two top-rated entries in each group receiving awards. Last year's symposium was attended by ~350 students and faculty, with nearly 220 contributed posters. Participants came from 10 states and the District of Columbia, from colleges and Universities of all sizes. Registration is free and so is lunch, and the morning and afternoon snacks! Register here
and come join us next year at the 16th Undergraduate Research Symposium, October 26th, 2013!
