Specific activities initiated and/or sponsored by the CLI include:
Establishment/Refinement of communication-oriented foreign language curricula with special attention to the teaching of culture.
Articulation of language programs at the secondary and college Level.
Utilization of technology (including video, satellite, and computer resources) in foreign language instruction.
Networking and sharing of resources.
Research on the psychology of second-language acquisition - The planning and offering of special language courses for private organizations.
Workshops for faculty, outside language teachers, and students a variety of language topics.
Support of graduate and undergraduate research and outreach programs.
Student enrichment programs.
