Training

The University Counseling Services offers training to Doctoral students in Clinical or Counseling Psychology. These students may participate in one of the following programs:

PRACTICUM

UCS is offering a 16-20 hour per week Practicum for the 2012-2013 Academic Year. The program is designed for doctoral students in the psychology graduate programs at UMBC who are interested in developing their clinical skills and building upon their theoretical knowledge. The emphasis within the training program is on providing assessment and treatment for university students within a brief psychotherapy model. All practicum applications should include the following:

1 - A Letter of Interest

2 - A completed Application Form

3 - The completed Director of Clinical Training Consent Form

4 - A copy of graduate school transcript(s)

5 - Two letters of recommendation. (Letters of recommendation should be signed across the seal).

INTERNSHIP

APPLICATIONS HAVE ALREADY BEEN PROCESSED FOR THE 2011-2013 INTERNSHIP YEAR. POSITIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR 2013-2015.

UCS will be offering a two-year, half-time (24-hour week) Pre-doctoral Internship program during the 2013 APPIC Internship Match. Applicants should have completed all required coursework, comprehensive examinations, and a minimum of 500 practicum hours prior to the starting date of the internship. The UCS Internship Program is a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) and will be participating in the APPIC National Match Process. All internship applications are to be submitted via the on-line APPIC Applications for Psychology Internship (AAPI On-line) system, available at www.appic.org (click on "APPI On-Line"). The program code for this internship is 2087.

In addition to the actual AAPI application form, all internship applications should include:

1 - A letter of interest which addresses the applicant's interest in the UMBC University Counseling Services Internship, expectations for the internship, and career goals.

2 - A Curriculum Vitae.

3 - All graduate transcripts.

4 - APPIC Academic Program's Verification of Internship Eligibility and Readiness Form.

5 - Three letters of recommendation, including two from on-site clinical supervisors.

This internship site adheres to the APPIC Match Policies. This internship site agrees to abide by the APPIC policy that no person at this training facility will solicit, accept, or use any ranking-related information from any intern applicant.
