Jim Lord '99, visual arts
Design DirectorDuring Jim's final semester at UMBC, he worked as the part-time web assistant for UMBC's Creative Services, and he's been with the group in various roles ever since. In his current position as Design Director, Jim oversees the day-to-day operations of the studio and continues to design tons of stuff for the campus community.

Vicki Glorioso
Production ManagerVicki has been at UMBC for some time now and worked in the Albin O. Kuhn Library and Institutional Advancement prior to joining Creative Services in 2000. She works closely with various vendors and printers to ensure timely pricing, printing, delivery, and payment for the studio's projects. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with friends and family, playing with her dog Fido and her grandson Logan.

Dina Karkar
Graphic DesignerDina graduated from University of Maryland, College Park with a degree in studio art and later received her masters in publication and design from The University of Baltimore. After working in Austin, Texas for a few years she returned to Maryland, and is now the newest member of the creative services department. She loves purple and black (go ravens), cheese, traveling, painting and going to concerts.

Marlayna Demond
PhotographerMarlayna originally joined the Creative Services team as an intern during her final semester as a photography student at UMBC. After graduation, she made the leap to become a freelance photographer, opening her own business focused on event, editorial, and lifestyle portraits. She also accepted a part-time position at Creative Services and is glad (despite the surreality) to be back walking around campus on a regular basis again. During school, Marlayna livened up her senior year playing Ultimate Frisbee. In her free time she likes going to concerts, traveling to different cities and exploring, or just catching up with friends at coffee shops.

Received by Creative ServicesUMBC creative services has received Inhouse Design Awards from Graphic Design USA for the Undergraduate Viewbook (2009 and 2011), Undergraduate Admissions Homepage (2010), the Sustainability Matters Web site (2010), and UMBC Magazine (2010 & 2011). The Magazine has also received Awards of Excellence (2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012) from the University & College Designers Association (UCDA) and received a national bronze medal (2011), regional gold medal (2012), regional silver medal (2013), regional bronze medal (2010), and regional honorable mention (2011) from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). The UMBC Hero campaign received national and regional gold medals (2011) from CASE's Circle of Excellence and District II Accolades.

Michelle Jordan '93, visual arts
Senior Web DesignerMichelle graduated from UMBC with a degree in visual arts, emphasis in photography, in the era before the interwebs. After college, she moved from photography to web design and programming. She has been trying to keep up with the ever-changing world wide web ever since. Michelle returned to UMBC in 2004 to work as a web designer for Creative Services. She likes rescuing cats, dreaming, saving the environment, reading books and seeing daylight.

Candace Cage
Production DesignerOriginally hailing from New York, Candace graduated from Loyola University in Maryland (back when it was still a College) with a B.A. in Communication with a specialization in Digital Media, and an Art History minor. She later completed her M.A. in Publications Design at the University of Baltimore. She loves packaging design, is an avid collector of wine labels, and is obsessed with all things John Mayer.
