What the Classified Staff Senate is Doing For You!!!

1. Instituted the "Employee of the Year" award (1999/2000).

2. Instituted "Emeritus" status for employees (1999/2000).

3. Instituted the "Employee of the Month Award" with the Department of Human Resources.

4. Established and ensures the continuation of the Staff Development Fund.

5. Worked to eliminate Absentee Frequencies for employees.

6. Ensured the waiver of athletic fees for staff.

7. Worked with University Computing on the "Assured Access Computing Initiative" for the entire campus (1998).

8. Sponsors annual trips to Annapolis to talk with legislators about various issues concerning UMBC.

9. Represents staff to the University Administration on the University Steering Committee, a committee comprised of the Presidents and Vice-Presidents from the Classified Staff Senate, Associate Staff Senate, Faculty Staff Senate, SGA, and GSA to address issues concerning staff, faculty and students.

10. Represents staff to the Office of Human Resources in monthly meetings of the Personnel Review Committee.

11. Represents staff to University administrators at the monthly meetings of 9 University Committees and at major University Retreats. We make sure your voice is heard where it counts.

12. Plans social events for the staff and fund-raisers for student scholarships.

13. Work to keep you informed with 3 CSS newsletters a year, active list email distribution, campus mailings, and an updated web page.

14. Established Working Student Scholarship Fund.

15. Instrumental on the formation of CUSS with the Board of Regents.
