Rob
Ryan was in residence from May 20 - June 1, 2008
carring out a "high flow" tracer test in the DR4-DR5 reaches of Dead Run. A solution of sodium
bromide was injected first at Fox Auto and subsequently upstream at
Winters Lane, and sampled downstream as a function of space and time.
The effort was conducted 24/7 for 9 days with teams on shifts to change
out ISCO samplers, measure flow rates, and take sediment samples. The
samples were analyed on the IC at UMBC. The OTIS model has been
calibrated to these data as well as data collected under lower flow
conditions in summer 2007. Results are being used to refine our
groundwater model of the area.
