Why are we
moving from our current systems to PeopleSoft?
The PeopleSoft implementation will take processes that are now largely
manual and disconnected and recreate them in an online environment that
will eventually integrate all budget, human resources, and student
information. This project is more than a technology solution, it has
provided a much-needed opportunity to rethink and improve our business
processes to make them more efficient for staff, faculty, and students.
It is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to improve the way we work
together at UMBC.

What is the timeline for training?
As the PeopleSoft project prepares to launch new human resources and
financial services on July 1, user training plans are starting to emerge.

Resources training will begin in April. In-depth training for employees
with financial responsibilities will take place mid-May through the end of

Who will be doing the training?
Support will come from a number of places, including the OIT, Finance and
HR staffs and a corps of department-based users who will be trained early
and serve as mentors to others in their areas. In addition, the Delta
Steering Committee has hired Donna Meek, a PeopleSoft training consultant
with seven years experience, including one year with the most recent
version (8) that UMBC will be implementing. |
