The Universities at Shady Grove
UMBC offers several undergraduate and graduate programs at The Universities at Shady Grove. Students enjoy small class sizes, close faculty-student collaborations, and a diverse student population.
Starting Fall 2013, UMBC at The Universities at Shady Grove will offer its Biotechnology and Cybersecurity Master of Professional Studies programs. With a focus on management, these programs will prepare students in the technology-centric Rockville area for leadership roles in two of the region’s fastest growing industries.

Summer & Winter Sessions
Summer and Winter Sessions are a great opportunity for UMBC and visiting students to get a jump start on graduation requirements, lighten fall/spring course loads, focus on courses that need extra study time, and enjoy smaller classes and personal attention from UMBC’s exceptional, student-focused faculty. Students can earn up to 16 credits during Summer Session (May-August) , which offers 4,6,8 and 12 week sessions, and up to 4.5 credits during Winter Session (January).
