Experience in Higher Education

1974-Present          Professor and Chairman, Department of Economics, University of Maryland, Baltimore County.  Adjunct Professor, University of    Maryland, School of Medicine, Department of Preventive and Social    Medicine.  Presently teaching principles of economics, health economics    and labor economics.

1972-1974               Associate Professor of International Health and Economics (joint appointment, Department of International Health, School of Hygiene and Public Health, and Department of Political Economy, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, The Johns Hopkins University).  Taught graduate level courses in labor economics, economics of health and economics of education in the Department of Political Economy, and health economics and principles of economics at the School of Hygiene and Public Health.

1969-1972               Assistant Professor of International Health and Economics (joint appointment, Department of International Health, School of Hygiene and Public Health, and Department of Political Economy, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, The Johns Hopkins University).

1966-1967               Lecturer (part time) at Goucher College, Baltimore, Maryland and the George Washington University, Washington, D.C.  Taught courses in labor economics and economic history; also economic analyst, Research Analysis Corporation, McLean, Virginia.  Assisted in development of computerized models for projecting military manpower needs subject to a number of contingencies.

1967-1969                Research Associate, Brookings Institution, Washington, D.C.  Developed (with Gerald Weber) a background paper for Brookings Conference on Financing Medical Education.  Carried out a two-year study evaluating federal programs for American Indians.
